All Students in the Stillwater Area HS Bands are required to perform a solo with accompaniment in the first semester of every year.

The Stillwater Bands host an internal Solo  Contest in the first week of January for this purpose.  This contest provides all students the opportunity to perform and be evaluated by outside judges and clinicians. Detailed information and signups for registration will be posted in November.

The Minnesota State High School league sponsor the state Solo and Ensemble Competition each spring. Students who receive a superior at the high school Solo and Ensemble Contest in January will be invited to participate in this event. Information on registration for this event is available in January.

Students receiving a 38 or higher score at MSHSL Solo and Ensemble Contest will be invited to perform in the Band Honors Recital.
