Due to the very strong auditions and high number of students auditioning this year, it was necessary to create two Wind Ensemble’s.  Both ensembles are equally balanced  both in instrumentation and talent.  This will create three ensembles capable of performing class 1 collegiate  literature at SAHS…..a Stillwater first!

These ensembles will be called Wind Ensemble Red and Wind Ensemble Black.  They will perform as separate ensembles and as a combined ensemble which will be called the Stillwater Symphonic Wind Ensemble. The Symphonic Wind Ensemble will tour with the Stillwater Wind Symphony and Percussion Ensemble in the Spring of 2017.

Wind Ensemble Red will meet hour 2 and Wind Ensemble Black will meet hour 3.  Members of both ensembles will have the opportunity to perform with the Varsity orchestra as part of the Wind Ensemble Chamber ensembles.

This is an exciting time for the Stillwater Bands, as the quality of players has continued to grow.  As you all know, in 2017-18, we will add the new freshman  and create two new Symphonic Bands.  We had planned to add the Red and Black Wind Ensembles at that time.  Due to the program strength, we felt it was necessary to move this idea up a year to meet the demands of our student musicians.
